SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Chattanooga has wrapped up the top seed in the upcoming 2008 Southern Conference Softball Championships as league teams wrapped up regular season play on Sunday afternoon. The Lady Mocs, who secured the program’s 10th SoCon regular season title in 15 seasons with a win over Georgia Southern on Saturday, will face eighth-seeded Western Carolina at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 7 at the Patriots Point Athletic Complex in Mt. The four-day, double-elimination tournament begins at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning as number-four seed Elon takes on number-five seed UNC Greensboro. Following the Chattanooga/Western Carolina contest at noon, No. 2 Georgia Southern will face seventh-seeded Appalachian State at 3:00 p.m. The final game of the opening day will pit the tournament’s host, third-seeded College of Charleston, against sixth-seeded and defending tournament champion Furman. Tournament play will continue each day through Saturday, May 10.
