College of Charleston third baseman Jeremie Tice was named Southern Conference Player of the Week for the week ending May 19. The Dacula, Ga., native smashed two home runs at Clemson and two in each game of a Saturday doubleheader at Western Carolina. He also homered in the regular season finale at Western Carolina on Sunday. The junior batted .524 for the week with 15 RBI while scoring eight runs.
Other standout performers include: The Citadel’s Chris Swauger, UNC Greensboro’s Adam Deleo, Wofford’s Michael Gilmartin, Davidson’s Matt Webb and Western Carolina’s Nick Liles.
Furman right-hander Spencer Hale was named Pitcher of the Week. In four relief appearances, he earned a pair of wins, helping Furman secure third place in the SoCon final standings. The Eustis, Fla., native worked 3.1 innings allowing two hits and one earned run while striking out two. The junior shut down Tennessee and earned two victories against Georgia Southern.
