College of Charleston’s Michael Harrington was named Player of the Week for the week ending May 12. The senior hit .467 with five home runs, 11 RBI and scored eight runs for the week. The first baseman belted a home run in each contest leading the Cougars to four straight wins. The native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa had a slugging percentage of 1.467 and an on-base percentage of .550.
Other top hitters included Georgia Southern’s Chris Shehan, Western Carolina’s Stephen Notaro, Appalachian State’s David Towarnicky, Wofford’s Jake Williams, Davidson’s Brett Shore, Elon’s Cory Harrilchak and UNC Greensboro’s Matt Gaski.
Appalachian State pitcher Matt Andress earned Pitcher of the Week honors. He pitched a 5-0 complete game shutout of Furman on May 9 allowing six hits. He struck out six without a walk.
Other the top pitchers were Georgia Southern’s Kyle Kamppi, Western Carolina’s Mike Tavernier, Elon’s Steven Hensley, Wofford’s Scott Summers, Davidson’s Thomas Middour and UNC Greensboro’s Greg Martin.
