SPARTANBURG, S.C. ?The Southern Conference’s track & field coaches selected Raquel Ramseur of Western Carolina as the women’s track & field Athlete of the Week.

Ramseur, a senior from Charlotte, N.C., placed third in the 200-meters at the Florida Relays with a time of 23.43.  Ramseur’s time in the 200-meters places her in the top 10 in the nation.  Ramseur also ran the 400-meters at the Florida Relays in a time of 54.67.  Ramseur is ranked first in the Southern Conference in the 200-meters, 400-meters, 4x100-meter relay and the 4x400-meter relay. 

Other Top Performers:

Lindsay Barker, a junior at Furman, placed second in the 800-meters with a personal best of 2:17.35 at the Chabot Relays and Distance Festival.

Allison Taylor, a senior from The Citadel, finished third in the “B” section of the javelin with a throw of 125-10-feet at Florida Relays. Her throw was a school record and places her second in the Southern Conference in the javelin.

Monique Edwards of The Citadel placed seventh in the hammer throw at the Florida Relays with a toss of 165-7-feet. Her throw was a personal best and she leads the Southern Conference in the hammer throw.

Summer Chambless, a senior from the College of Charleston, won the pole vault at the Murray Neely Invitational with a jump of 11-0.25-feet.  Chambless is ranked second in the pole vault with a mark of 11-5.75-feet.
