SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? UNC Greensboro freshman Erica Creed has been named Southern Conference women’s golfer of the week for April 9.
Creed recorded her first ever Top 5 finish on Tuesday when she finished second at the UNCW Lady Seahawk Intercollegiate. The Kernersville, N.C., native recorded rounds of 74, 70 and 73 to finish in a tie for first after 54 holes, but lost in a playoff to UNC Wilmington's Carmen Perez-Narbon. Creed's round of 70 tied her season best and her 54-hole total of 217 was seven shots better than her previous best. Her second place finish helped the Spartans to a second place finish in the tournament, one shot behind North Carolina State.
Another top golfer this week was College of Charleston’s Steffi Kirchmayr.
