SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? The Southern Conference announced today that Elon’s Deanna Bailey was named women’s tennis player of the week.

Bailey, a sophomore from McDonough, Ga., went 2-0 last week at No.1 singles with wins against Davidson’s Kelsey Linville, 6-4,7-6, and Georgia Southern’s Kristi Kegerreis, 6-3, 6-1.

In doubles action, Bailey and Anna Milian were undefeated this week with wins over conference foes Linville and Virginia Berry of Davidson, 8-2, and Georgia Southern’s Ali Beavers and Christine Caforio, 8-4.

Other top performers for this week included: Chattanooga’s Grace Robinette, Davidson’s Kim Whelan, Furman’s Monica Arguello, Georgia Southern’s Christine Caforio and Wofford’s Sonia Anand.
