Furman's Nick Karow, Elon's Cory Harrilchak Earn SoCon Honors

Furman’s Nick Karow was named Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 7. The sophomore had a win and two saves as the Paladins were 4-1 last week. In three relief appearances over 4.2 innings, the Lewis Center, Ohio native allowed three hits while striking out three. He earned a win in Furman’s 10-9 win over Presbyterian and notched two saves this weekend against UNC Greensboro. He also was 4-of-6 from the plate as a catcher.

 

Other standout performances were turned in by: The Citadel’s Matt Talley, UNC Greensboro’s Matt Gibbs, Appalachian State’s Garrett Sherrill, Elon’s Thomas Girdwood, Wofford’s Pete Noordsy, Western Carolina’s Tyler Sexton and College of Charleston’s Casey Lucchese.

 

Elon outfielder Cory Harrilchak was named SoCon Player of the Week for the week ending April 7. The Cary, N.C. native batted .714 (10-of-14), scored seven runs and drove in six. The junior had a career-best four hits, including an inside-the park homer, in an 11-10 win over Georgia Southern on April 6.
