SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? The Southern Conference announced today that Furman’s Jordan Walters is the men’s tennis player of the week.
Walters, a sophomore from, Augusta, Ga., had a 3-0 record last week. Walters, playing at No.5 singles, defeated The Citadel’s Martin King, 6-2, 6-3. Walters defeated Chattanooga’s Hasan Hamadeh, 6-2, 6-0, and College of Charleston’s Ross Myer, 6-0, 6-3, to push his winning streak to seven. Walters is 8-9 overall and 4-0 in conference play.
In doubles action, Walters teamed with Bo Ladymon to defeat Joe Nicolazzi and Ross Myer of College of Charleston, 8-3, and Razvan Axenta and Badr Bouabdellah of Chattanooga, 8-4.
Other top performers this week included: Daniel Dossetor of The Citadel, Flaviu Simihaian of Davidson, Chase Helpingstine of Elon, Borja Malet of Georgia Southern and Paul Bartholomy of Wofford.
