SPARTANBURG, S.C. ?The Southern Conference’s track & field coaches selected Chibuzo Aguocha of Furman as the women’s track & field Athlete of the Week.
Aguocha, a senior from Houston, Texas., won the triple jump at the Furman Blue Shoes Invitational with a regional qualifying jump of 40-6.75-feet. Aguocha’s jump ranks her fourth in the Southern Conference in the triple jump.
Other Top Performers:
Brynne Johnson, a freshmen at College of Charleston, tied a school record in the high jump with a mark of 5-3.25-feet at the Coastal Carolina Invitational. Johnson ran a personal best in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.09.
Megal Atial, a senior from Davidson, won the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the UNC Tony Waldrup Invitational. Atial’s time of 11:22.31 is the best time in the conference and a new school record.
Shea Snow of Appalachian State placed second in the pole vault after a jump off at the UNC Tony Waldrup Invitational with a jump of 12-1.5-feet. Snow’s jump leads the Southern Conference in the pole vault.
Tasha Sanders, a senior from The Citadel, won the shot put and discus at the Furman Blue Shoe Invitational. Sanders throw of 140-1-feet in the discus was a personal best. Sanders also placed second in the 100-meter hurdles and fifth in the javelin. Sanders is ranked third in the shot put and second in the discus in the Southern Conference.
