Furman's Arguello Named Tennis Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? The Southern Conference announced today that Furman’s Monica Arguello was named women’s tennis player of the week.

 

Arguello, a freshmen from Lakeland, Fla., went 3-0 last week at No.2 singles with wins against Davidson’s Virginia Berry, 6-2,7-6, Wofford’s Adriane Hodges, 6-1, 6-1 and Western Carolina’s Trish Hanson, 6-0,6-0.

 

In doubles action, Arguello and Lauren Osbourne were undefeated this week with wins over conference foes Michele Fanney and Teresa Wang of Davidson, 8-3, Wofford’s  Adriane Hodges and Cayley Wetzig, 8-0 and Western Carolina’s Amanda Massey and Mariona Trilla Jane, 8-2.

 

Other top performers for this week included: Elon’s Anna Milian, Georgia Southern’s Ali Beavers and Wofford’s Sonia Anand.
