SPARTANBURG, S.C. ?The Southern Conference’s track & field coaches selected Patrick Morgan of Furman as the men’s track & field Athlete of the Week.

Morgan, a junior from Danville, Ky., placed fifth in the Blue Shoes 1,500-meters at the Furman Invitational.  Morgan was the first collegian to cross the finish line with a time of 3:47.15.  Morgan has the fastest time is the in the conference in the 1,500-meters and qualified for the NCAA Regional.

Other Top Performers:

Ryan Twiford, a freshmen at Appalachian State, placed second in the pole vault after a jump-off with teammate Barron Shell at UNC’s Tony Waldrop Invitational. Ryan’s jump of 15-7-feet leads the Southern Conference in the event.
