Terriers slide up two spots, finish fourth in New York April 12, 2008
NEW YORK -- The Wofford women's golf team registered its lowest scoring round of the tournament and moved up its place in the final team standings by two spots with a 16-shot improvement Saturday to conclude the Roar-EE Invitational in fourth place among the 14 competing teams on the par 71, 5,833-yard Hampshire Country Club in New York, N.Y.
The Terriers, who were in sixth following Friday's 36 holes, moved up two positions following a final round 317, which was the third lowest team score of the day behind winner BYU's 304 and second-place Harvard's 314. Wofford finished with a 346-333-317--996 (+144).
Freshman Alex Rankin paced the Terriers with her third-straight top-five finish, earning a fourth-place result. She carded an 84-76-77--237 (+24) to finish eight strokes behind the medalist, Natalia Jimenez of BYU.
Fellow rookie Meredith Few improved her score by 10 strokes from the second to third round and placed 13th following an 80-88-78--246 (+33). Junior Erin Wells gave Wofford three individuals in the top 25 with an 88-84-81--253 (+40) to tie for 25th.
Junior Colleen Rice and sophomore Sarah Herbert tallied 47th-place tying scores to round out the Terrier contingent. Rice fired a 95-85-84--264 (+51), while Herbert displayed the greatest improvement amongest the team from the opening round to the final round recording a 94-89-81--264 (+51).
Wofford will conclude its slate April 20-22 at the Southern Conference Championship. This year's league event will be held at The Links at Stono Ferry in Hollywood, S.C., just outside of Charleston.

LADY MOCS FINISH 12TH AT PEG BARNARD COLLEGIATE
STANFORD, Calif. ? The Chattanooga women’s golf team finished 12th at the Peg Barnard California Collegiate in Stanford, Calif., Sunday posting a two-round score of 633 on the par 71 ? 6,117 yard Stanford Golf Course.
Emma de Groot finished outside the top 10 for the first time in her collegiate career tied for 16th with a 151. Teammate Christine Wolfe fired a second round 73 on day two to finish one stroke behind at 152. Kayla Stewart carded identical 82s and Katie Taylor did the same with back-to-back 83s.
Stanford defended its title winning its tournament with a two-round 591, four strokes ahead of the University of Washington and eight up on the University of Oregon. Washington’s Karinn Dickinson won medalist honors with a level par score 142 and Stanford’s Angela King was a stroke back in second with a 143.
Chattanooga will return home to prepare for the upcoming Southern Conference Tournament that will take place at the Links at Stono Ferry in Charleston, S.C., April 20-22.
Rankin paces Terrier women's golf after 36 holes April 11, 2008
NEW YORK -- Wofford freshman Alex Rankin continued her solid play during the spring with an eight-shot improvement form the opening round to the second round Friday at the Roar-EE Invitational at the par 71, 5,833-yard Hampshire Country Club course in New York, N.Y.
Rankin moved into fifth on the individual leaderboard with an 84-76--160 (+18) to stand seven shots behind the leader, BYU's Natalia Jimenez.
Fellow rookie Meredith Few is tied for 17th after registering an 80-88--168 (+26).
Juniors Erin Wells and Colleen Rice are next in scoring for the Terriers. Wells is tied for 30th after posting an 88-84--172 (+30), while Rice is tied for 50th despite improving by 10 strokes after carding a 95-85--180 (+38).
Sophomore Sarah Herbert is tied for 59th after registering a 94-89--183 (+41).
BYU paces the team standings with Wofford holding onto sixth place after the opening two rounds.
The two-day, 54-hole event will conclude with the final 18 holes Saturday.

WOMEN’S GOLF TIED FOR 12TH AT PEG BARNARD CLASSIC
STANFORD, Calif. ? The Chattanooga women’s golf team is tied for 12th at the Peg Barnard California Classic hosted by Stanford University.
The Lady Mocs posted a 321 on the first day of the event at the Par 71, 6,117 yard Stanford Golf Course. Freshman Emma de Groot carded a 77 in the first round to lead
Chattanooga. She is tied for 20th followed by teammate Christine Wolf with a 79.
Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Mocs is Kayla Stewart with an 82 and Katie Taylor with an 83. Tomorrow’s round will be a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m.
