STATESBORO, Ga. ? The College of Charleston women’s tennis team closed out the regular-season Southern Conference portion of its schedule with a 7-0 win over Georgia Southern at the Hanner Tennis Complex on Wednesday
The Cougars, who improved to 21-3 overall and 8-1 in SoCon play, finish the regular season on Saturday in a 10:30 a.m. match at Mercer. The Eagles fell to 9-10 and 2-6.
Anna Lee Evans defeated Christine Caforio 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 singles en route to her 16th straight victory.

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - The 66th-ranked Furman women's tennis team swept Western Carolina 7-0 to claim at least a share of the Southern Conference regular season championship.
The Paladins claimed the doubles point with wins at all three spots, then claimed all six singles matches in straight sets. Turning in solid performances for the Paladins were freshman Monica Arguello and senior Lauren Osborne, who both blanked their opponents 6-0, 6-0.
With the win, the Paladins improve to 15-5 overall and 8-0 in league play, while Western Carolina falls to 3-14 and 0-7 in the Southern Conference.
The Paladins will play their last regular season match of 2008 on Saturday with a trip to Davidson to face the Wildcats in a match set for 1:00 p.m.
