SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Elon senior Samantha Widmer placed second in a rain-shortened tournament this week and has been named Southern Conference women’s golfer of the week for March 5.

The Cayman Islands native led Elon to the team championship at the Diet Coke Wofford Invitational this week after inclement weather forced the cancellation of the final round. Widmer registered a 75, placing second overall and highest among SoCon golfers.

Other top performances were turned in by Christine Clark of The Citadel and Erin Wells of Wofford.
