Western Carolina’s Chris Masters was named  Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 31. The sophomore earned two victories and a save in four appearances allowing one hit and striking out six in 7.1 innings.  He tossed 1.1 innings to earn a win against East Tennessee State and pitched 5.0 innings of hitless relief in a win over UNC Greensboro. Other standout performances were turned in by: Appalachian State’s Nick Terry, UNC Greensboro’s Rob Gilliam, College of Charleston’s Jesse Simpson, The Citadel’s Matt Talley, Wofford’s Pete Noordsy and Elon’s Thomas Girdwood.

UNC Greensboro outfielder Greg Feltes was named SoCon Player of the Week for the week ending March 31. The senior batted .529 (9-of-17) with two home runs and six walks. The Rocky River, Ohio, native had at least one hit in each of UNCG’s five games. Other standout performances were turned in by: Appalachian State’s Jason Rook, Western Carolina’s Jason Haynes, Georgia Southern’s Jeremy Beckham, Davidson’s Hugh Eden, College of Charleston’s Joash Brodin, The Citadel’s Chris Swauger, Wofford’s Michael Gilmartin and Elon’s Donny Jobe.
