College of Charleston 4, Davidson 3
Mt. Pleasant, S.C. -- The College of Charleston women's tennis defeated Davidson, 4-3, in Southern Conference tennis action at windy College of Charleston Tennis Center at Patriots Point on Sunday.
The Cougars, who play host to East Carolina on Tuesday at 2:00 in their final home match of the season, improved to 17-2 overall and 5-0 in league play. Davidson fell to 12-4 and 4-1.
After Charleston swept the doubles point, the Cougars won three singles matches en route to their eighth consecutive win and their 14th win over the last 15 matches overall.
Charleston's Laura Borza beat Virginia Berry 7-5, 6-2 at No. 2 singles, Link Leskosky downed Michele Fanney 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3 singles and Anna Lee Evans defeated Meredith Skeeters 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 singles.
Davidson's Kim Whalen at No. 4 singles and Kelsey Linville at No. 1 earned wins.
Wofford 1, Georgia State 6
SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? The Wofford women’s tennis team was handed a 6-1 defeat by the Georgia State Panthers Sunday afternoon at the Reeves Tennis Center.
Junior Cayley Wetzig collected the lone point for the Terriers with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at the No. 6 singles position over Kiera Strickland.
“Georgia State is a good team,” said coach Katie Hangstefer. “They played really well today. We fought hard but we couldn’t outplay them. We loss to a very good team.”
Wofford’s next match is Tuesday at 2 p.m. as the Terriers will travel to Chattanooga, Tenn., to see action against Southern Conference opponent Chattanooga.

GREENSBORO, NC ? UNC Greensboro’s Alejandra Guerra made it 11 straight wins in singles action as the Spartans rolled to a 6-1 win over Chattanooga in women’s tennis on Sunday morning.
The Spartans (6-8, 3-2) got five singles straight-set wins, including Guerra’s. The junior from Tampico, Mexico topped Chattanooga’s Lindsay Ballard, 6-2 and 6-0, at No. 1 singles and also teamed up with Arielle VonStrolley for a win at No. 1 doubles.
UNCG also got straight-set singles wins from VonStrolley, Valerie Behr, Erica Zabkar and Courtney Akel on their way to the easy win.
The Spartans will face High Point on Wednesday at 2 pm at UNCG Tennis Courts.
