Florida wins Bryan National, UNCG finishes 15th

BROWN SUMMIT, NC ? UNC Greensboro shot a final round 322, battling cold and a persistent mist and drizzle, to finish 15th at the Bryan National at Bryan Park’s Player’s Course on Sunday afternoon.

On a day when only one player out of 93 recorded a sub-par round, the Spartans were able to maintain their 15th place finish with relatively balanced scoring. Ashley Mylton led the way with a 79 to finish in 29th place. All four scoring players for UNCG were within three shots of each other on Sunday.

Arkansas’ Stacy Lewis won the individual title, holding on for a one shot win over Duke’s Amanda Blumenherst. Playing in the same pairing, Lewis carded a final round 77, against Blumenherst’s 74. Things got interesting when Blumenherst birdied No. 17. while Lewis bogeyed the 17th. However, both players bogeyed No. 18 to give Lewis the victory.

Florida carded a 307 on the final day to record the team title. The Lady Gators, with a three-day total of 906, finished two shots ahead of Duke with a total of 908. Auburn was third at 909, despite the best team score of the day at 305.

UNCG begins play at the Lady Seahawk Classic next Sunday afternoon.
