Charlotte, N.C. ? The Citadel Bulldog tennis team had a great day in Charlotte, N.C. as they swept both Wingate University and Queens University of Charlotte, 7-0.
The Citadel won the doubles' point, sweeping the Wingate, 8-6, 8-1 and 8-4.The Bulldogs then proceeded to win all six of the singles matches as well. Daniel Dossetor won at No. 1 (6-1, 6-1), Yufo Sutantio won at No. 2 (6-1, 6-0), James Eason won at No. 3 (6-2, 6-0), Alberto Diaz won at No. 4 (6-1, 6-2), Martin King won at No. 5 (6-1, 6-3), and Frederic Petrilli finished off Wingate winning at No. 6 (6-0, 6-1).
In the second game of the double-header, The Citadel had the same production against Queens Univ. as the Bulldogs again swept the doubles' point. The Bulldogs continued on to sweep the singles points as well to collect the win, 7-0. Dossetor won at No. 1 (6-0, 6-3), while Sutantio won at No. 2 (6-2, 5-7, 1-0), Eason won at No. 3 (6-1, 6-2), Diaz won at No. 4 (6-0, 6-0), and King won at No. 5 (6-1, 6-2) and Petrilli finished the day winning at No. 6 (6-1, 6-0).
The Citadel improves their record to 13-9 (3-3 SoCon) on the season and will be back in action Apr. 2 when they face cross-town rival the College of Charleston at 2 p.m. The Bulldogs have not won 13 matches since 1997, when the tennis team went, 14-10.

Appalachian State 5, Chattanooga 2
CHATTANOOGA, TENN.- The Appalachian State men's tennis team defeated Southern Conference foe Chattanooga Friday afternoon, as the Mountaineers downed the Mocs 5-2. With the win, ASU improves to 9-6 overall and 2-1 in conference action, while UTC drops to 10-6 on the season and 1-6 in SoCon play.
The Apps started the match off on a strong foot, as every Mountaineers picked up wins in doubles play.
At the No. 1 doubles spot, the duo of Bobby Lake and Trent Constance were victorious over their competition, winning 8-2. The team of Peter Jacobs and Lee Floyd were successful as well on the afternoon, decisively winning 8-3. Rounding out doubles action, David Doverspike and Ryan Brookshaw notched a win over Razvan Axente and Robert Diamond, beating them 8-5.
ASU was solid in singles competition as well, as four out of six Mountaineers were able to notch wins over their opponents.
At the No. 1 singles spot, Lake faced a challenging opponent in Peter Sauska and fell in three sets, losing 2-6, 6-3 and 6-0. Brookshaw played a tough opponent as well, as he lost in two sets, falling 7-5 and 6-4.
Constance was impressive at the No. 3 position, as he easily won 6-3 and 6-0, while Floyd was victorious as well, winning 7-5 and 6-4.
Both Jacobs and Doverspike finished the match with wins, as Jacobs narrowly won in three sets, 6-1, 4-6 and 6-1, and Doverspike defeated his opponent in two sets.
Appalachian returns to action Sunday March 30, as the Apps travel to Greenville, S.C. to face East Carolina. The match is set to begin at Noon.
Elon 2, Radford 4
RADFORD, Va. ? James Lloyd overcame Mason Schermerhorn 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4) at No. 3 singles, lifting No. 75 Radford to a 4-2 non-conference men’s tennis win against Elon Friday afternoon at the Dedmon Center Courts.
Due to impending thunderstorms, the doubles bouts were cancelled. The Phoenix (12-7) claimed a 1-0 lead when Chase Helpingstine downed Paul Boslet 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6. Ivan Salec tied the contest at 1-1 when he out-dueled Oscar Podlewski 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 at No. 2.
Zack Watson gave the Highlanders (6-0) a 2-1 edge by rallying past Philip Nemec 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (2) at No. 5. No. 89 Martin Sayer fattened the Radford advantage to 3-1 with a grueling 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5) victory over Damon Gooch at No. 1.
Lloyd sealed the victory for the Highlanders with a pair of tiebreak wins at No. 3. Elon’s Alberto Rojas concluded the scoring, earning a come-from-behind 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 4 over Mehdi Benhammou 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-4.
Radford will visit George Washington at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Phoenix will begin a four-match home stand to close out the regular season when SoCon foe Davidson visits the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
