SPARTANBURG, S.C. ?The Southern Conference’s track & field coaches selected Lynndsey Hyter of Georgia Southern as the Women’s Track & Field Athlete of the Week.
Hyter, a freshmen from Dallas, Texas, won the long jump and triple jump at the Coastal Carolina Shamrock Invitational. Hyter’s triple jump was a regional qualifying jump of 40-9.5-feet and her long jump was a wind aided mark of 19-10.75-feet.
Hyter is ranked first in both the long hump and triple jump in the Southern Conference.
Other Top Performers:
Demetrise Anthony, a sophomore at Georgia Southern, jumped 18-3-feet in the long jump and placed fifth. She jumped a regional qualifying mark of 40-7.75-feet in the triple jump and finished third at the Coastal Carolina Shamrock Invitational. Anthony finished third in the 100-meters and ran the anchor leg of the third place 4x100-relay team.
Shaunta Hamiliton, a freshmen from Georgia Southern, placed second in the triple jump with a regional qualifying jump of 40-8.75-feet. Hamilton also finished third in the long jump with a leap of 19-10.25-feet at the Coastal Carolina Shamrock Invitational.
Monique Edwards, a junior from The Citadel, placed fourth at the Coastal Carolina Shamrock Invitational in the hammer with a toss of 163-3-feet. Her throw was the second best in school history and her personal best by five feet. Edwards leads the Southern Conference in the hammer throw.
Jennine Strange, sophomore at Elon won the 800-meters at the Coastal Carolina Invitational with a time of 2:16.43.
Raquel Ramseur, a senior form Western Carolina ran a league leading time of 55.78 in the 400-meters and 24.14 in the 200-meters at the Charlotte 49er Classic. Ramseur ran a leg on the winning 4x400-meter relay, which posted a time of 3:42.67 and ran a leg on the 4x100-meter relay team which posted a time of 45.86
