Furman Climbs Four Spots At Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic

 

Athens, Ga. -- The Furman women's golf team used a 26-over-par 314 to climb to 13th place after the second round of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic Saturday afternoon at the University of Georgia Golf Course.

 

Blair Lamb (79-77=156) fired a five-over-par 77 to pace Furman who opened the day in 17th place. Sophomore Corrine Carr (81-78=159) and freshman Jaclyn Hilea (83-78=161) contributed to the Paladins' second round surge each carding a six-over 78 on the par 72 layout. Freshman Stefanie Kenoyer (75-81=156) struggled to an 81, but maintained a share of the team lead along with Lamb in 31st place.

 

Purdue's Maude-Aimee Leblanc (74-72=146) and Duke's Amanda Blumenherst (74-72=146) each posted even par on Saturday to move into a share of first place one stroke ahead of Georgia's Krystal Caithness. The host Bulldogs (302-300=602) notched the day's low score at 300 to take a three stroke lead over Purdue.

The Citadel Golf Team Wraps Up Day Two of the Shamrock Intercollegiate

 

Rock Hill, N.C. ? The Citadel Golf team completed the second day of competition at the Shamrock Intercollegiate in Rock Hill, N.C., dropping a spot to 13th place.

 

Junior Kasey Owens led the way for the Bulldogs again this afternoon, after improving on her score from yesterday to hold down the 57th spot. Kate Hardina slips one spot to 68th while Christine Clark moves up four places to 71st. Sheri Rockefeller and Maggie Dunning rounded out the scoring for the Bulldogs.

 

Charleston Southern is leading the field by only one stroke over second place Princeton and only two strokes better than Winthrop. Susannah Aborff of Princeton jumped to the front of the pack after shooting an impressive 69 on the day, three strokes under par.

Furman's Kenoyer Shoots 75 At Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic

 

Athens, Ga. -- Freshman Stefanie Kenoyer carded an opening round 75 to pace Furman to a 318 during the first round of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic Friday at the par 72, 6,335-yard University of Georgia Golf Course.

 

After playing the front nine at five-over-par, Kenoyer used three birdies on the back nine to finish at three-over for the day and grab a share of 11th place.. Junior Blair Lamb bounced back from a six-over front nine by playing the final nine holes at one-over to post a first round 79.

 

Louisiana State's Megan McChrystal fired a three-under 73 to take a two-stroke lead and give the Tigers a five-stroke advantage over the field with a first round 297. Alabama, Georgia and Purdue each posted a 302 to forge a three-way tie for second place. Stephanie Connelly of UCF opened tournament play with a 71 to trail McChrystal by two strokes.

Bulldogs Finish 12th after Day One of the Shamrock Intercollegiate

 

Rock Hill, S.C. - The Bulldogs completed their first day of competition at the Shamrock Intercollegiate in Rock Hill, S.C., placing 12th of 14 teams.

 

Junior Kasey Owens lead the way for the Bulldogs tying South Dakota State’s Erin Bergstrom for 57th place overall, shooting a 44 and 45 to finish out the day with an 89. Freshman Sheri Rockefeller finished tied for 59th with a total score of 90 after shooting a 44 and 46. Katherine Hardina, Christine Clark, and Maggie Dunning rounded out the scoring for the Bulldogs.

 

Charleston Southern is leading the field by four shots over second place Winthrop. Winthrop’s Jutta Degerman leads the pack after shooting 33 and 38, scoring a 71, the only player to shoot under par at the par 72 course.

 

The Bulldogs’ will wrap up the Shamrock Intercollegiate today, Mar. 22 in Rock Hill, S.C.
