SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? The Southern Conference announced today that Elon’s Mason Schermerhorn is the men’s tennis player of the week.

Schermerhorn, a senior from, Colfax, N.C. helped Elon garner conference victories over UNC Greensboro and Georgia Southern.  Schermerhorn defeated Martin Redelinghuys of UNC Greensboro at No.3 singles, 6-1, 6-2.  Schermerhorn won in straight sets over Georgia Southern’s Gregory Bekkers, 6-4, 6-2.  In an Elon defeat versus Wofford, Schermerhorn defeated the Terrier’s Alan Donald, 6-3, 6-0.

In doubles action, Schermerhorn teamed up Alberto Rojas to go 3-0 for the week.  Schermerhorn and Rojas defeated Bubnov and Litus of UNC Greensboro 8-7, Bekkers and Prins of Georgia Southern 8-1 and Bartholomy and Cahl of Wofford 8-1.

Other top performers this week included: Ryan Brookshaw of Appalachian State, Jordan Walters of Furman, Borja Malet of Georgia Southern and Andrew Stubbs of Wofford.
