Mt. Pleasant, S.C. -- Anna Lee Evans' straight set win at No. 4 singles helped the College of Charleston to a 4-3 Southern Conference win over Elon in women's tennis action at the College of Charleston Tennis Center at Patriots Point on Saturday.
Charleston, which plays host to SoCon foe Chattanooga at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, improved to 11-2 overall and 3-0 in league play. Elon fell to 9-6 and 1-2.
Evans beat Jenn Tucci 6-2, 6-0 while teammates Amanda Becker and Kinsey Casey also earned victories. Becker downed Whitney Butcher 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 singles. Casey earned a 6-2, 6-0 win over Hayley Wahl at No. 6
The Cougars won the doubles point when Holly Dowse and Keely Mulligan teamed to win, 8-6, at No. 2 doubles, and Chelsea Albertz and Evans won, 8-5, at No. 3 doubles.
Mt. Pleasant, S.C. - The College of Charleston took five of six singles matches to earn the 6-1 win over the Chattanooga Mocs in women's Southern Conference tennis action this afternoon at the College of Charleston Tennis Center at Patriots Point on Sunday.
Charleston, which hosts Jacksonville State Monday, Mar. 17th at the Family Circle Cup Tennis Center on Daniel Island, improves to 11-2 overall and 3-0 in the SoCon. Chattanooga drops to 5-6 and 1-2.
The Cougars opened the match with a 3-0 sweep to take the doubles point. Keely Mulligan took the first singles point, earning the 6-0, 6-0 win over Arianna Sanjines at No. 6. Anna Lee Evans, Amanda Becker and Link Leskosky won for the Cougars as well. In the last match of the day, Kinsey Kasey defeated Annie Green 6-4, 6-2 at No. 5 to give the Cougars the 6-1 victory.

STATESBORO, GA ? UNC Greensboro earned four singles wins in six matches to pick up its first Southern Conference win of the season with a 5-2 win over Georgia Southern on Saturday afternoon.
UNCG (3-6, 1-2) got straight-set singles wins from Alejandra Guerra and Erica Zabkar, coupled with a pair of third-set wins by Britney Cloer and Arielle VonStrolley to earn the Spartans’ first SoCon win of the season. The Spartans won all three doubles pro-sets to get the day started in its favor.
With the loss, Georgia Southern dropped to 7-7, 1-3 in SoCon play.
UNCG steps out of conference to host UNC Wilmington on Tuesday.
Davidson 7, Appalachian State 0
BOONE, N.C.- The Davidson women's tennis team improved to 2-0 in Southern Conference action by sweeping all three doubles matches and then finishing off the match with wins at all six singles positions for a 7-0 win over Appalachian State on Saturday afternoon.
Davidson, who last played on Mar. 3, ran its overall record 9-3, while ASU fell to 4-5 and 0-3 in league play. It was the eighth shutout win of the season for the Wildcats.
Senior Kelsey Linville and sophomore Virginia Berry led the way in doubles action to start the match by winning their fifth straight to run their doubles mark to 9-2 with a 8-3 win over Anja Gugger and Mallory Cook at No.
1. Davidson then took wins at No. 2 and No. 3 by the score of 8-2 at both positions to grab an early 1-0 lead in team points.
The Wildcats proceeded to then take all six singles matches in straight sets, with the Mountaineers winning no more than four games in just one set, for a 7-0 win.
Senior Kim Whelan and Meredith Skeeters remained unbeaten at their respective positions on the year with wins at No. 4 and No. 5 singles.
Whelan, who ran her No. 4 singles mark to 4-0 and her overall singles record to a team-best 9-2, picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win over Amanda Cash.
Skeeters ran her No. 5 singles record to 3-0, a perfect 2-0 in league matches, with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 5. She improved to 8-1 overall in singles action, picking up her eighth straight victory.
Junior Lora Dushanova registered her seventh singles win of the year with a 6-1, 6-4 triumph at No. 6 singles over Lindsay King, while Linville, Berry and junior Michele Fanney finished out the match with wins at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3.
Davidson returns home for its second straight SoCon match when Western Carolina comes visiting on Sunday, Mar. 16 at 1 p.m.
