Anderson Scores 39, Earns Player of the Week Award

SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Chattanooga senior forward Alex Anderson has been named the Southern Conference women’s basketball player of the week for February 5.

 

Anderson recorded the highest single-game points total in the SoCon in three seasons when she scored 39 points in a 73-62 win over Davidson on Monday night. The Stone Mountain, Ga. native was 14-of-24 from the field and 11-of-17 from the foul line while also pulling down eight rebounds. Anderson began the week with a 16-point, five-rebound effort against Appalachian State on Saturday.

 

Anderson currently leads the league by averaging 18.4 points per game. This honor is the sixth of the season for Anderson and the 15th of her career.

 

Other top performances this week were turned in by Appalachian State’s Brittany Mixon, College of Charleston’s Brooke Kotcella, Davidson’s Mercedes Robinson, Furman’s Melissa Liebschwager, Georgia Southern’s Tiffany Brown, UNC Greensboro’s Lakiah Hyson, Western Carolina’s Chevon Keith and Wofford’s Liz Miller.
