SPARTANBURG, S.C. ?The Southern Conference’s track & field coaches selected Joel Gaddy of Appalachian State as the Men’s Track & Field Athlete of the Week.
Gaddy, a senior from Charlotte, N.C., won the triple jump at the Virginia Tech Challenge. Gaddy jumped a NCAA provisional mark of 51’8.5 inches and beat a field of 34 other jumpers. His jump places him 14th in the nation at the triple jump. Gaddy’s jump moved him ahead of his teammate at the top pf the Southern Conference standings. Gaddy’s mark of 51’8.5 is the fourth best on ASU’s all-time list.
Other Top Performers:
Will Funderburg, a junior from Davidson placed sixth in the weight throw at the UNC Relays. His throw of 48’4 was a personal best and a new school record. His mark is sixth best in the Southern Conference this season.
