SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Davidson forward Mercedes Robinson turned in back-to-back double-double performances last week and has been named the Southern Conference women’s basketball player of the week for February 19.

 

Robinson, the current league leader with 11 double-doubles on the season, paced the Wildcats with 20 points and 11 rebounds in a 76-50 win over UNC Greensboro on Friday night. The junior then added 17 points, 11 boards and six assists against Elon on Monday as Davidson won its third straight contest. For the week, Robinson averaged 18.5 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 2.5 steals per contest.

 

A native of Baltimore, Md., Robinson currently ranks in the top 10 in the SoCon in seven statistical categories, including points (12.2 ppg) and rebounds (8.3 rpg).

 

Other top performers this week were Appalachian State’s Sam Ramirez, Chattanooga’s Shanara Hollinquest, Elon’s Tiffany Davis, Furman’s Chrissy Phelps, Georgia Southern’s Shawnda Atwood, Western Carolina’s Lauren Powell and Wofford’s Mahagony Williams.
