Wednesday’s Softball Doubleheader at Charlotte Postponed

BOONE, N.C. ? Inclement weather has delayed opening day of the Appalachian State 2008 softball season for the second consecutive season. The Charlotte doubleheader has been re-scheduled for Feb. 20 starting at 2:30 p.m. The Apps will now travel to Kennesaw, Ga. for the K-Club Invitational this weekend.

On Friday, ASU will face Southern Miss at 10 a.m. followed by host Kennesaw State at 2 p.m. On Saturday, the Apps will take on Eastern Kentucky at 10 a.m. to be followed at either 2 or 4 p.m. with a bracket round game against one of the other three teams in the tournament.

Rain Washes Away Furman Softball Doubleheader Versus Winthrop

Greenville, S.C. -- Wednesday’s softball doubleheader between Furman and Winthrop, scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Pepsi Stadium, has been canceled due to persistent rains and wet field conditions.

Furman will return to action this weekend taking part in the Auburn Tiger Invitational on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Auburn, Ala.  On Friday, Furman will face Gardner-Webb at 11:00 a.m. ET before battling the Evansville Purple Aces at 1:30.  The Lady Paladins will tangle with Marshall and McNeese State on Saturday before facing host Auburn on Sunday afternoon.

Furman enters the weekend at 1-1 on the season after splitting a doubleheader with East Tennessee State this past weekend at Pepsi Stadium. The defending Southern Conference Tournament champions return home next Wednesday to host Presbyterian.
