SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? UNC Greensboro’s Jeff Hedges was named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week. A standout on UNC Greensboro’s wrestling team, Hedges has a 3.26 grade point average and is majoring in sports medicine.
Hedges, a senior from Havre, Mt., had a 3-0 record last week with a major decision over Virginia Tech’s Jared Jones, a decision over George Mason’s Joe Coughlin and a decision over T.J. Mitchell of Liberty.
Hedge’s overall record is 21-9 with a 4-0 record in Southern Conference matches. He is ranked 17th in the nation at 133-pounds by InterMat/NWCA/USA Today poll. Hedges has won his last 10 matches, four by major decisions, two by falls, three by decisions and one by technical fall.
