Mercedes Robinson Named Player of the Week

Davidson Forward Recorded a Double-Double Against Western Carolina

 

SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Davidson senior forward Mercedes Robinson has been named the Southern Conference women’s basketball player of the week for all games from Dec. 9-15.

 

Robinson averaged 16.5 points and nine rebounds per game last week as the Wildcats fell to Charlotte and defeated Western Carolina. In the 84-66 win against the Lady Catamounts, Robinson tallied her fourth double-double in 10 games this season with 19 points and 11 rebounds. She also added seven steals on the week.

 

The player of the week is selected by a vote of the league’s women’s basketball sports information directors.

 

Other top performers during the week were Chattanooga’s Shanara Hollinquest, Western Carolina’s Brooke Johnson, UNC Greensboro’s Gini Grimsley, Samford’s Emily London, Georgia Southern’s J’Lisia Ogburn and Wofford’s Kelley Dwyer.
