SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Western Carolina women’s basketball player Brooke Johnson has picked up her second Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week award of the season, the conference office announced Tuesday. The award is for all games played December 10-15.
The senior criminal justice major with a 3.91 GPA scored a career-high 26 points in the Lady Catamounts’ loss to Davidson this past Sunday. Johnson also pulled down five rebounds and made three three-pointers, which tied a career high. She has also recorded a block in all eight of the Lady Catamounts’ contests this season.
Also nominated for this week’s award were three other women’s basketball players, UNC Greensboro’s Gini Grimsley, Davidson’s Alex Thompson and Samford’s Karmen Smith.
