GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Senior midfielder Patrick Murray has been named as one of 65 players invited to take part in the 2009 Major League Soccer Player Combine set to be held January 9-13, at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., it was announced this week.

The two-time All-Southern Conference selection and 2008 preseason all-american pick, guided Furman to a 11-8-1 overall record and 4-3 SoCon mark this past season.  Murray tallied five goals and a team-leading six assists for the Paladins.

Murray, a 2007 NSCAA Scholar Athlete All-American, garnered ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III honors this fall after sporting a 3.38 grade point average while majoring in accounting.

The Peachtree City, Ga., product becomes the third Paladin in the last two years to earn an invitation to the combine.  Jon Leathers and Shea Salinas both impressed at last January’s workouts before being selected in the second round of the MLS Draft by Kansas City and San Jose, respectively.
