SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Elon University, which finished the regular season with a perfect mark of 7-0 in conference play, earned the No. 1 seed in the 2008 Southern Conference Men’s Soccer Tournament.  The Phoenix (9-8-1, 7-0 SoCon) will host the No. 8 seed Wofford Terriers (6-12, 2-5 SoCon) Saturday (Nov. 8) at 7:00 p.m.

The winner of the Elon-Wofford first-round match will take on the winner of the Appalachian State-College of Charleston game.  The Mountaineers (10-7, 4-3 SoCon) earned the No. 4 seed and will host the fifth-seeded Cougars (9-9, 3-4 SoCon) Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in Boone, N.C.

The bottom half of the bracket features No. 2 seed Furman (11-7-1, 4-3 SoCon), hosting No. 7 seed UNC Greensboro (9-9, 3-4 SoCon).  The Paladins and Spartans will square off Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Greenville, S.C.  The final first-round paring pits No. 3 Georgia Southern (7-8, 4-3 SoCon) against No. 6 Davidson (4-13-1, 2-5 SoCon).  The Eagles and Wildcats will take the pitch Sunday at noon in Statesboro, Ga.
