AUSTIN, Texas ? The Furman Paladins ended their early-season winning streak with a 105-51 loss to No. 14 Texas on Sunday.

Kathleen Nash and Brittainey Raven each scored 22 points to lead the Longhorns to the win over Furman. Raven scored the first two point of the game at the 19:44 mark. Furman’s Melissa Liebschwager responded with a 3-pointer to give the Paladins their only lead of the game. The Paladins were able to keep the Longhorn lead in the single digits until the 15 minute mark, when a free throw shot from Raven put Texas up by 10. Furman headed into the break down 25 points, with the score at 52-27.

Texas continued to build their lead in the second half, scoring the first points of the half with two free throws from Raven. The Longhorns hit 100 points with four minutes remaining in the game and went on to take the game 105-51.

Texas was led by Nash and Raven, who each scored 22 points. Earnesia Williams, Ashley Lindsey and Erika Arriaran each added 10 points in the victory.

Senior Melissa Liebschwager led the Paladins with 14 total points, while junior Lee Stephens added 11, for her fourth straight double-digit scoring game of the season. Senior Katie Johnson led the team in rebounds with four and was 6-6 from the free-throw line. The Paladins were held to a .267 field goal percentage during the game, but managed to shoot .824 from the free-throw line, making 14 of 17 shots.

With the loss, Furman falls to 3-1 on the season while Texas remains undefeated at 5-0. The Paladins will travel to Houston on Tuesday to face Rice. Furman defeated the Owls last season by a score of 70-53. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. ET on November 25.
