CofC Freshman Chubb Named Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? College of Charleston freshman Elyse Chubb has been named the Southern Conference Volleyball Player of the Week as voted on by the conference volleyball sports information directors, the conference office announced Tuesday.

 

Chubb helped the Cougars to a 2-0 record last week, as they defeated both Western Carolina and Appalachian State, 3-0. The middle blocker hit .656 last week with 23 kills, nine blocks and four assists, while only committing two attack errors in 32 attempts. In the match against the Catamounts, Chubb hit .765, which was the highest mark this season by a SoCon player.

 

Also nominated for this week’s award were UNC Greensboro’s Kaitlyn Nortz, Furman’s Nicole Palazzo, The Citadel’s Tatum Jestila, Samford’s Sheriden Stangohr, Appalachian State’s Maja Jechorek and Elon’s Traci Stewart.
