Junior Guard Scored 34 Points in Win Over Clemson

SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Furman guard Lee Stephens poured in a career-high 34 points in Furman’s 82-68 win over Clemson Friday night and has been named the Southern Conference women’s basketball player of the week for all games from November 14-18.

Stephens was 10-of-14 from the floor against the Tigers, including 3-of-4 from behind the three point arc, as the Lady Paladins never trailed after taking a 3-2 lead in the first minute. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native also connected on 11-of-12 free throw attempts in recording Furman’s first 30-plus point performance since January 1999.

The player of the week is selected by a vote of the league’s women’s basketball sports information directors.

Other top performers in the opening week of play were Davidson’s Mercedes Robinson,  Chattanooga’s Shanara Hollinquest, Georgia Southern’s Ashley Melson, College of Charleston’s Sarah Moye, Appalachian State’s Canesha Edwards, Elon’s Tiffany Davis, Samford’s Monica Maxwell and Western Carolina’s Brooke Johnson.
