SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Davidson’s Stephen Curry has been named the Southern Conference Player of the Week for all games November 10-18. Curry helped the No. 21 Wildcats start the year 2-0 after picking up wins over Guilford (107-83) and James Madison (99-64). The player of the week honor is selected by league’s sports information directors.
Curry averaged 31.0 points, 9.5 assists and 6.5 steals in two games last week. The junior guard narrowly missed just the second triple-double in school history as he recorded 31 points, 10 assists and 9 steals in the win over Guilford in the season opener. Curry connected on 59 percent of his field goal attempts and went 7-for-15 from three-point range. He scored 31 points and dished out nine assists in the victory over James Madison Monday night and has moved into fifth place on the school’s all-time scoring list. It was the 16th time in his career he has topped the 30-point plateau. Curry has now scored at least 25 points in each of his last six games dating back to last season.
The Wildcats continue play in the Dick’s Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-Off Tuesday night when they face the No. 14 Oklahoma Sooners in Norman, Okla. The Wildcats and Sooners tip off at 9:30 p.m. The game will be televised by ESPN2.
