CULLOWHEE, N.C. - One day after capturing their second Southern Conference women's soccer championship in their celebrated ten-year history, the Western Carolina Catamounts (13-7-2, 9-2-0 SoCon) learned their first-round destination in their second ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament after solidifying one of the NCAA's 32 automatic bids in the 64-team field.

The Catamounts will take to the pitch on Friday, Nov. 14 against 2008 ACC tournament Champion, North Carolina in Chapel Hill it was announced Monday evening on ESPNNEWS. The team and many fellow supporters learned of their first-round destination on the campus of WCU in the UC Center Theater. The Western-UNC match will mark the second time these two teams have squared off with kickoff at 5:00 pm from Fetzer Field. Both the Cats and the Heels earned their respective conference's automatic bids into the field of 64 by winning their conference championships. The second of the two first round matches slated for Chapel Hill features Charlotte (17-3-1) and Tennessee (10-10-2), with the two squaring off against one another in the nightcap Friday scheduled for 7:30 pm.

Yesterday, Western Carolina women's soccer team battled 110 minutes of scoreless play before finishing off the top-seeded UNC Greensboro on penalty kicks, 2-0, to win the program's second Southern Conference Championship. The win on PK's was the Catamounts second shootout victory in their last three matches. With the win, Western Carolina earns its second championship and earned the right to play No. 1 seed UNC on Friday.
