SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Western Carolina women’s soccer goalie Caitlin Williams has been named this week’s Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday.
Williams, a chemistry major with a 3.706 GPA, recorded two shutouts last week in the Catamounts’ victories over Wofford and Furman. In these two matches, she stopped eight shots. The sophomore has now recorded five straight shutouts for the Catamounts who are 4-0 in the SoCon.
Other nominees for this week were Georgia Southern men’s golfer Logan Blondell, Furman volleyball player Nicole Palazzo, UNC Greensboro women’s soccer player Lauren Lopez, Appalachian State men’s soccer player Antonio Harley, Davidson women’s cross country runner Caroline Sanker, College of Charleston volleyball player Cole Dawley and Samford cross country runner Hillary Neal.
