SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Furman senior middle blocker Nicole Palazzo has been named the Southern Conference Volleyball Player of the Week as voted on by the conference sports information directors, the conference office announced Tuesday.

In three matches last week, Palazzo committed only one hitting error and had a hitting percentage of .453 in leading the Paladins to a 3-0 record. The team defeated Presbyterian and Elon, 3-0, and UNC Greensboro, 3-2. The Grayson, Ga., native averaged 1.55 blocks and 3.18 kills per set in the three victories.  

Other nominees for this week included Samford’s Ashley Adams, Chattanooga’s Lara Newberry, College of Charleston’s Cole Dawley, UNC Greensboro’s Kayren Finney, Davidson’s Sarabeth Peele, The Citadel’s Jessica Maas, Appalachian State’s Maja Jechorek and Elon’s Caroline Lemke.
