SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? UNC Greensboro earned the top seed in the 2008 Southern Conference Women’s Soccer Tournament.  The Spartans claimed the regular-season championship by finishing the year with a record of 15-4-1 (10-0-1 SoCon) and will face the No. 8 seed Appalachian State Mountaineers (7-9-2, 3-7-1 SoCon) on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Greensboro, N.C. All first-round games will take place at campus sites, while the semifinals and finals will be held November 7 and 9 at the Patriot Point Athletic Complex in Mount Pleasant, S.C. 

Western Carolina (12-7, 9-2 SoCon) earned the second seed and will host Elon (8-8-2, 4-6-1 SoCon), while third-seeded Samford (9-8-2, 8-1-2 SoCon) will take on the College of Charleston (12-5-3, 5-4-2 SoCon) in Birmingham.  The final first-round pairing will feature the No. 4 seed Davidson (10-5-3, 8-3-0 SoCon) hosting No. 5 Furman (13-6-1, 7-4 SoCon).

The Appalachian State/UNC Greensboro winner will face the winner of the Furman/Davidson matchup in one semifinal.  The second semifinal will pit the winner of the Elon/Western Carolina match against the Samford/College of Charleston winner.
