SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Chattanooga volleyball player Courtney Barnes has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday.
Barnes, a sophomore, sports a 4.0 GPA in Movement Science. Last week, she helped lead the Mocs to a pair of SoCon victories over UNC Greensboro and Elon. In the 3-0 sweep over the Phoenix, Barnes had 14 kills, no errors and .636 hitting percentage. For the week, she had 21 kills and eight blocks.
Also nominated for this week’s award were Western Carolina volleyball player Katie Hennessey, Appalachian State men’s soccer player Antonio Harley, Samford football player Mitchell Waters and Davidson volleyball player Sarabeth Peele.
