GREENVILLE, S.C. ? The Furman volleyball team earned a non-conference win with a 3-0 sweep of Presbyterian on Wednesday.

The Paladins jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the first set, and went on to take the set 25-15, helped by a .250 team attack percentage, well above Presbyterian’s .033 mark. Senior Emily Harby led the Paladins in the first set with 4 kills and no errors for a .571 hitting percentage.

The start of the second set was closer, with Presbyterian tying the score at 6, before the Paladins managed to pull away and take the 25-19 win.

Senior Nicole Palazzo led Furman with five kills and no errors for a .625 hitting percentage, helping the team to a .364 mark.

In the third set, the Blue Hose jumped out to an early 6-2 lead before the Paladins went on an eight-point run to take the 9-8 lead. Furman would lead for the remainder of the set before taking the victory 25-16.

Sophomore Lisa Shelley led the Blue Hose with 8 kills, while libero Elizabeth Heineman added 14 digs.

Palazzo led the Paladins with 12 kills and zero errors on 20 attempts for a .600 hitting percentage. She also added four total blocks to the winning effort.

With the win, Furman improves to 8-7 on the season while Presbyterian falls to 3-10 with the loss. The Paladins will travel to UNC Greensboro on Friday for a 7:00 match, before facing Elon on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
