SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Elon’s Justin Wyatt has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week of October 14. Wyatt tallied two game-winning goals last week as the Phoenix picked up league wins over Appalachian State (2-1) and College of Charleston (1-0).
The junior midfielder scored in the 79th minute off a rebound to push the Phoenix ahead of ASU, 2-1. He scored Elon’s lone marker in a 1-0 win over College of Charleston, scoring off an assist from Erfan Imeni and Steven Kinney just 38 seconds into the match. Wyatt leads the league in shots (38), points (17) and is tied for the league in goals (7) and game-winning goals (3). He is second in the league in points per game (1.31) and tied for second with 0.54 goals per game.
Other top performers this week were Davidson’s Machel Turner, Furman’s Patrick White, Georgia Southern’s Daniel Smith and UNC Greensboro’s Nate Berry.
