SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Chattanooga’s Alex Anderson has been named the Southern Conference women’s basketball player of the week for January 8.
Anderson averaged 21 points and 8.3 rebounds per contest while guiding the Lady Mocs to Southern Conference road victories over Appalachian State (68-55) and Davidson (67-47). On Jan. 5, the senior forward poured in 25 points with 11 rebounds against the Mountaineers to record her fourth double-double of the season. She also grabbed five steals versus ASU. The following Monday, on Jan. 7, the Stone Mountain, Ga. native recorded 17 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots to go along with four assists in the 20-point victory over Davidson.
Chattanooga currently sits atop the Southern Conference standings with a 4-0 league mark and a 12-3 overall record. UTC has won eight consecutive SoCon games, dating back to last season, and is gunning for an unprecedented ninth consecutive SoCon regular season crown.
This honor is Anderson’s fourth player of the week award this season and the 12th of her career.
