Davidson's Curry Earns SoCon Honor

 

Davidson guard Stephen Curry was named the Southern Conference men's basketball Player of the Week for the week ending January 27.

 

The sophomore averaged 24.3 points in three games last week. Curry made 25-of-50 (50.0 percent) from the field and was 13-of-27 (48.2 percent) from three-point range while converting 10-of-12 (83.3 percent) from the free throw line. He dished out eight assists and had five steals.

 

The Charlotte, N.C. native ranks fifth nationally in scoring with a 23.9 average.

 

Davidson recorded an 82-67 win at Western Carolina coupled with an 87-70 victory at The Citadel and a 70-58 triumph at College of Charleston.

 

Other standout performances were turned in by Wofford's Junior Salters, UNC Greensboro's Ben Stywall, Elon's Ola Atoyebi, Western Carolina's Brandon Giles, Appalachian State's Donald Sims, Chattanooga's Kevin Bridgewaters and The Citadel's Austin Dahn.
