SPARTANBURG, S.C. ?The cross country coaches selected Mark Maddox of Appalachian State as the Men’s Runner of the Week for September 3.
Mark, a fifth year senior exercise science major from Asheville, N.C. ran in his first cross country race in two years after he red shirted for the 2006 season. Maddox placed seventh overall and the sixth collegian in a field of 119 runners at the Covered Bridge Open. He finished the 8k course in 25:43 and led the Mountaineers to a second place finish behind Florida State.
Other Top Performers:
Andrew Clyne, a freshman from UNC Greensboro finished second in his first race as a collegian runner at the Campbell Invitational. He led the Spartans to a second place finish. Andrew’s time of 15:57 was the ninth best time ever ran on the Campbell course.
Rick Myers, a junior from Elon finished 18th out of 45 total runners in the Wake Forest Relays with a total time of 23:41 to lead all Elon runners. It was a two leg relay with his team coming in 14th out of 22 teams.
