SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? UNC Greensboro freshman forward Kristin Player has been named the Southern Conference women’s soccer player of the week for her exploits in the Spartans’ two victories over the weekend.
The Placentia, Calif. native notched the game-winning goal in each of the Spartans’ matches, a pair of 2-0 wins against William & Mary and Central Michigan. Player also added an assist on the second goal against Central Michigan.
UNC Greensboro, picked by the league’s 11 head coaches to repeat as conference champions in 2007, resumes play Friday at 5 p.m. against Northwestern in the first round of the FAU Classic in Boca Raton, Fla.
Other top performers from the week were Appalachian State’s Casey Cleary, Davidson’s Lauren Conner, Furman goalkeeper Briana da Mota, Georgia Southern goalkeeper Lauren Santos, Bri Cunningham of Western Carolina and Wofford’s Monica Ploetzke.
