Furman's Paschalis Earns Weekly Honor

SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Furman midfielder Eliot Paschalis has been named the Southern Conference men’s soccer player of the week after totaling a goal and two assists in leading the Paladins to a pair of shutout victories.

 

A senior from London, England, Paschalis netted the game-winning goal in Furman’s season-opening 6-0 triumph over St. Joseph’s on Friday. Paschalis also tallied two assists en route to earning offensive MVP honors and leading Furman to the tournament title at the Coastal Carolina/adidas Invitational.

 

Furman, the coaches’ preseason pick to win the Southern Conference title in 2007, opened its campaign by outscoring its opponents 9-0 in two matches. The Paladins host Presbyterian Friday at 7:00 p.m. in the first round of the Diadora/Spinx Furman Invitational.

 

Other top performers this week include Appalachian State’s Sean Sassano, College of Charleston’s Kareem Yearwood, Joey Ralph of Georgia Southern, Nirav Kadam of UNC Greensboro and Wofford’s Moe Kelli.
