Charleston, S.C.- The Citadel Bulldogs (3-6-0, 0-1) improve their winning streak to two games after beating S.C. State, 2-1 in Wednesday night soccer action.

Freshman Jessa Scott led the way again for the Bulldogs by scoring each of the two goals and adding nine shots on goal. The Bulldogs struck first after Scott capitalized on a loose ball in the six-yard box just 16 minutes into the match. The Citadel managed to hold S.C. State scoreless in the first half enjoying a 1-0 lead going into the locker room.

S.C. State answered with a goal of their own in the 75th minute of play when Star Tazwell took a shot from 30 yards out. The ball went upper 90 into the net past Bulldog keeper, Lisa Wilson.

In the 83rd minute of action, The Citadel took the lead after Laura Curran was fouled outside the 18-yard box. Scott took the free kick for the Bulldogs, and her low driven ball flew past S.C. State goalkeeper, Alechia Brothers.

Scott’s two goals in the contest doubles her season goal count to four goals on the season. Senior goalkeeper Britni Bunnell had three saves while Wilson added five.

The Bulldogs will look to win their first conference game when they host the Davidson Wildcats on Sunday, September 30 at 2 p.m.
