SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Appalachian State goalkeeper Greg Walters has earned this week’s Southern Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week award by posting a pair of shutouts in non-conference action.

On the week, Walters did not allow a goal in 200 minutes of play while keeping a clean sheet against regionally-ranked Winthrop and versus Radford. Walters’ goals against average of 0.48 is seventh-best in the country, and he has helped guide the Mountaineers (4-1-2, 0-0-0) to a six-match unbeaten streak, their longest in 16 seasons.

Other top performers this week include College of Charleston midfielder Drew Fuzzy, Elon defender Steven Kinney, Furman defender Jon Leathers, Georgia Southern goalkeeper Brian Young, UNC Greensboro forward Corey Maret and Wofford midfielder Armin Kinigadner.
