Southern Conference Football Honorees
Offensive Player of the Week
Elon wide receiver Terrell Hudgins (Rocky Mount, N.C.) was named Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Hudgins caught a school-record 16 passes for 219 yards and four touchdowns as the Phoenix beat non-conference foe Liberty, 42-14. The sophomore leads the Southern Conference and the nation in receptions (12.7 rpg) and reception yards (151.0 ypg).
Defensive Player of the Week
Wofford defensive back Dan Tavani (Easton, Pa.) earned SoCon Defensive Player of the Week honors. The senior played a major role in the Terrier’s 42-31 win over Appalachian State. He ended the Mountaineers' first drive with an interception and Appalachian State’s final drive with a tackle-for-loss on fourth down. He finished with six tackles, broke up a pass, recorded a tackle-for-loss and made one interception.
Special Teams Players of the Week
Western Carolina place kicker Jonathan Parsons (Summerville, S.C.) and Chattanooga place kicker Craig Camay (Marietta, Ga.) shared SoCon Special Teams Players of the Week honors. Parsons converted all three extra points and booted field goals of 30 and 34 yards in Western Carolina’s 33-20 triumph over Presbyterian. Camay kicked a 25-yard field goal and made six PATs in Chattanooga’s 45-38 (OT) win at Georgia Southern.
Freshman of the Week
Georgia Southern linebacker E.J. Webb (Roanoke, Va.) was named SoCon Freshman of the Week. Webb paced the Eagle defense with a personal-high eight tackles and broke up two passes against Chattanooga. He also shared in a tackle-for-loss against the Mocs.
